Weather Presenter's 'Miracle Baby' And Beautiful Boy For Ugly Betty Star

Congratulations flood in for GMTV presenter Clare Nasir and husband, BBC radio DJ Chris Hawkins, following the birth of their first baby.

Sienna Clare Nasir Hawkins was born on Wednesday at 9.42am, weighing 4lb 1oz. Sienna was seven weeks premature and is currently in a special baby care unit of a London hospital where she will remain for the next few weeks under observation.

For Clare the birth has special significance after she had been told by doctors that she may never be able to have children.

In 2001 Clare was diagnosed with fibroid growths in her uterus which caused her stomach to swell, ironically causing some viewers to write in congratulating her on her 'pregnancy'.

Treatment shrank the fibroids, but seriously compromised her fertility. Fiberoids are very common affecting between 20 percent and 40 percent of women over the age of 35. They are often considered harmless, and women may have them without realising it.

However in some cases the size and position of the growths can cause problems with conceiving and could lead to a miscarriages and still births.

For the happy parents the joy must be mixed with relief at having managed to carry a difficult pregnancy to full term.

Clare will return to GMTV in the new year

It's a double baby celebration in celebrity world as actress Ashley Jensen, star of Ugly Betty and Extras, and husband Terence Beesley have announced the arrival of son Francis Jonathan, nicknamed Frankie Jack, born October 20th. Mother and child are home and doing well.
